Whether they are Habitat homes sold back to the organization or homes we purchase on the open market, Next Generation Homes are another way we are preserving affordable housing in our community. Instead of being torn down to make way for newer, more expensive units, Habitat Charlotte Region rehabilitates these homes and recycles them back into our inventory for families to purchase. Since the first location opened, the Charlotte Region ReStores have funded affordable homeownership opportunities for families from Pineville to Statesville and all points in between. Habitat for Humanity of the Charlotte Region officially reopened the newly renovated Cornelius Restore with a ribbon-cutting courtesy of the Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce. Habitat’s vision is of a world where everyone has a decent place to live. Habitat partners with the City of Charlotte as an advocate for affordable housing and on numerous housing projects, the most recent of which is The Meadows at Plato Price development.

There are hundreds of ReStore locations – and they’re all open to the public. Affordable housing refers to housing options that cost a family no more than 30% of their income. As one of the fastest-growing cities in America, Charlotte has seen a surge in population, causing housing prices to rise significantly. The University closure reduces Habitat Charlotte Region’s retail footprint to 6 area locations. We will continue to operate our Pineville, Wilkinson, Wendover, Cornelius, Mooresville and Statesville ReStores. Habitat Charlotte Region’s new home floor plans range in size from a 2-bedroom, 1-bath design up to a 5-bedroom, 2.5-bath design, in addition to other single and Townhome layouts (project dependent).
